GetScreen remote control tool

Today I spent a lot of time searching for the right GetScreen tool. GetScreen is an old application that can be used to remote control a computer, much like VNC. Apparently most of the websites try to block the download, since it can be used by Trojan Horses to remotely take control of a computer. The tool itself is pretty harmless. Before executing, the executing user needs to have Administrator rights on the computer you want to control. Please read further to find the download-link attached to this message.

You can download GetScreen over here. This Zip-file contains the following files:

  • Getscreen1.exe
  • Getscreen.exe
  • GetScrSvc.exe

The MD5 Checksum for this file is: [341249ed74f9279c4cc5205b62034681]

In order to remote control a computer in the local network one can simply execute the DOS-command:

  • <LocationOfGetScreen>\Getscreen.exe -s <computer name>
Remote control a computer with asking the user the permission to take over control.
  • <LocationOfGetScreen>\Getscreen1.exe -s <computer name>
Remote control a computer without asking the user for permissions.
